CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – T.J. Maston hit a shot at the buzzer to give the Saint John Riptide an 87-85 victory over the Island Storm Thursday during National Basketball League of Canada action at the Eastlink Centre.
Maston had a game-high 25 points and a team-high 12 rebounds. Chris Early had 17 points while Jeremiah Mordi and former Storm guard Kemy Osse scored 12 and 11 points, respectively.
The loss ended the Storm’s two-game winning streak while the Riptide has now won back-to-back contests.
The Storm led 22-20 after the first quarter, 37-36 at the half and 61-60 heading to the final quarter but was unable to hold onto the advantage.
Sampson Carter led the Storm with 20 points and 14 rebounds while Kareem Canty scored 14. Russell Byrd and Tyler Scott each chipped in 10. Tirrell Baines hauled in 10 rebounds while Canty dished out five assists and two steals.
The Storm turned the ball over 20 times compared to the Riptide’s 13.
Saint John improved to 6-12 while the Storm is 4-12.
The Storm travels to Moncton Friday to play the Magic (13-7).
