St-LEONARD-d'ASTON, QUE. – The Kevin Quinn Re/Max Ravens were eliminated Saturday at the under-23 Canadian men’s softball championship in St-Leonard-d’Aston, Que.
The Ravens lost 7-4 to the Kelly’s Pub Jr. Canadians from Newfoundland and Labrador in their first playoff game. It ended an 0-8 tourney for the Island squad.
The Canadians scored three runs in the first and fourth innings to take a 6-0 lead. The teams traded single runs the next two innings before the Island squad scored three times in the seventh.
Kinkora’s Grant Grady was 2-for-4 three RBI to lead the Ravens while Ty McAdam was 2-for-3, including a triple, with two runs and an RBI.
Parker Ronahan had a triple while Owen Arsenault, Matt Lange and Stephen O’Shea each singled as part of the Ravens eight-hit attack.
Matt Dominic, an Ontario pickup for the tournament, allowed seven runs, five of them earned, on 10 hits and two walks while striking out five.
Shortstop Logan Gallant was named to the tournament’s all-star team. The Cornwall native went 7-for-18 (.389) during the round robin.
