Storm unable to hold lead in Halifax during National Basketball League of Canada play

The Island Storm got an early lead but couldn’t hold it Thursday in Halifax.

The host Hurricanes outscored the Storm 29-12 in the fourth quarter to earn a come-from-behind 104-99 victory in National Basketball League of Canada play.

The Storm held 31-18, 60-43 and 87-75 quarter leads but Mike Poole had 19 of his team-high 27 points in the fourth to lead the home side to victory.

Joel Kindred had 21 points while Jordan Washington and Malcolm Duvivier scored 15 and 13, respectively. Rhamel Brown and Chadrack Lufile had 12 and 11 rebounds, respectively.

Guillaume Boucard had 29 points, 13 rebounds, three assists and two steals for the Storm. Sampson Carter had 22 points while Tyree White had 18 points, nine rebounds, four assists, two steals and three blocks.

Terrell Carter II had 12 points and 11 rebounds while Alex Campbell was the only Storm player off the bench to score. He had 15 points.

The Storm shots 53 per cent (9-for-17) from three-point territory but turned the ball over 22 times compared to 14 by the Hurricanes.

Halifax has won six straight games to improve to 18-12 while the Storm has dropped six in a row to fall to 5-21. The Storm travels to Moncton on Sunday for 2 p.m. game with the league-leading Magic (19-10).
