ANTIGONISH, N.S. — Carolina Del Santo had 20 rebounds and 10 points while Jenna Mae Ellsworth had 21 points to lead the UPEI Panthers to an 80-59 victory over the St. FX X-Women Saturday in Atlantic University Sport basketball.
The Panthers ended the regular season 17-3 while the X-Women are 0-20. UPEI finished with the same amount of points as Cape Breton (18-2) but the Capers held the tiebreaker.
Karla Yepez had 14 points, seven assists, five rebounds and two steals while Kimeshia Henry scored 16 points off the bench.
Brianna Gottschall had 16 points while Kimberly Kingsbury added 12 points and 13 rebounds for the X-Women.
The Panthers hit 57 per cent of their 14 three-point shots and held quarter leads of 23-14, 44-28 and 60-45.
UPEI had already clinched a bye and will face the winner of Friday’s quarter-final between third-place Acadia and sixth-place Dalhousie in Saturday’s 3 p.m. semifinal in Halifax.
