CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – The Island Storm will do something tonight they haven’t done all season – play on the road.

The game will also mark the franchise’s first contest in St. John’s, N.L., since the Edge joined the National Basketball League of Canada last season.

“We’re looking forward to it,” said Storm head coach Tim Kendrick. “They draw great. It’s supposed to be a real good environment.”

The Storm was to leave early this morning and fly out of Halifax before playing the Edge at 6:30 p.m. Atlantic. It is the first of two weekend games in St. John’s with the teams playing Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Atlantic.

“We’re ready to roll,” Kendrick said.

The Storm started the season Nov. 17 and was supposed to play its first five games on home court, but one game was postponed due to weather concerns.

The Storm split its first four games while the Edge is 2-5.

“They just added a guy. He’s not a bad player,” Kendrick said in referencing former NBA player Glen (Big Baby) Davis, who was introduced Thursday at a news conference. “I don’t know how ready they'll be with him, so we’re just preparing for what we know they will have.”

Maurice Jones Sr. and Carl English lead the Edge in scoring 16.3 and 15.6 points per game, respectively.

The Storm has all of its roster available after point guard Alex Campbell was cleared following concussion protocol that resulted in him not playing in Saturday’s lost to Cape Breton.

Kendrick said forward Carl Hall will be arriving soon, but it will likely after Christmas.

This weekend will be a bit of a homecoming for Daniel Gordon, who played the past five seasons with the Memorial Sea-Hawks in St. John’s.

“I think Daniel is excited to go back. He’s still got lots of friends there,” Kendrick said.
