SYDNEY, N.S. — The UPEI Panthers are in a three-way tie for the final playoff spot in the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) men’s basketball conference.
Jamesley Jerome had 19 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals to lead the Panthers to a 77-70 victory Friday at Cape Breton.
The Panthers, Acadia Axemen and Memorial Sea-hawks all have 6-13 records and 16 points.
UPEI finishes the regular season tonight at 8 p.m. at St. FX (6-13, 20 points) while Memorial is hosting Dalhousie (13-6, 32 points) and Acadia is at UNB (12-7, 34 points).
Milorad Sedlarevic had 13 points and seven rebounds for the Panthers on Friday while Amin Suleman had 13 points, four rebounds, four assists and four steals off the bench. Judy Georges added 10 points and seven boards.
Osman Omar had 20 points to pace the Capers attack.
UPEI held 24-10, 37-29 and 67-51 quarter leads. UPEI went 15-for-16 from the free-throw line while Cape Breton was 14-for-24.
