LeBlanc, Butler receive Hurricanes weekly awards

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – Volleyball players Megan LeBlanc and Brett Butler are the Holland College Hurricanes athletes of the week.
LeBlanc, a second-year player from Fredericton, N.B., who is studying business administration, was named the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) women’s player of the year on Friday as well as a member of the all-conference squad.

LeBlanc led the ACAA in kills during the regular season with 249, which is also a Hurricanes single-season record. She finished second in kills per set (3.56) and digs (203) and fifth in digs per set (2.90) in the conference.

Butler, a fourth-year player from Charlottetown and journalism student, was named the men’s ACAA player of the year on Friday and was named to the all-conference team.

Butler led the conference in kills per set with 3.78 and total kills with 189. He also finished second in hitting percentage (.307) and fourth with 0.40 service aces per set.
