Jenna MacFarlane, a libero from Fredericton, N.B., will join the team this fall.

“Fans can expect a high intensity player with lots of heart and grit,” she said. “My passion for this sport shines through when I am on the court.”

MacFarlane has been accepted to the environmental applied science technology program.

“I am eager to have a hands-on learning opportunity,” said MacFarlane. “I am excited to be joining the Hurricanes volleyball team because of the experience and development I will obtain while playing at the collegiate level.”

During the past six years, MacFarlane has spent time playing volleyball at Fredericton High School, as well as with the Spartans and Reds clubs in Fredericton.

In three seasons at the provincial high school level, MacFarlane placed third, first and then second in her senior year in the playoffs.

Her club team took home a silver medal at the under-16 nationals and first at the 2019 Mizuno Boston Volleyball Festival.

“I am a very vocal player and make my presence known on the court,” said the five-foot-four honours student. “I maintain a very positive attitude with both my teammates and coaching staff. Next season, I will bring a strong work ethic and fun spirit, I will also bring enthusiasm and high energy, and a drive to do my best at all times.”

The Hurricanes finished second at the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association playoffs earlier this year.
