SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — Ardyn Hardy was recently presented with a very special award.
She received the Lowell Stewart Memorial Award, which recognizes an individual in the soccer community that encompasses sportsmanship, a sense of community, a spirit of volunteering and a love of the game.
Hardy has been playing soccer for the past few years, and was a member of the very successful Summerside United under-13 girls’ team in 2018. She was also selected to play with the under-13 district team that represented P.E.I. at the Atlantic club championship.
Hardy worked with the United’s mini program, and assisted her father, Andrew, who is the Summerside United Soccer Club’s junior youth director. She would help set up practice sessions, and would demonstrate the drills to players.
Hardy, who also plans to get into officiating this year, was praised for her dedication. It was noted she never misses a practice or game, and does anything she can to assist.
Hardy’s sister, Hannah, is a previous winner of this award.
