CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Charlottetown’s Brett Gallant and Jocelyn Peterman are 2-0 after two draws at the world mixed doubles curling championship in Norway.

The Canadian champs, who are coached by Jeff Stoughton, thumped Ukraine 18-0 in six ends on Sunday. They scored one in the first, then stole two in the second, three in the third and four in each of the next three ends.

“In the last three ends we played really, really strongly so that’s good for going into tomorrow,” said Gallant.

Peterman, a Winnipeg native, said they were trying to get a handle on draw weight during the game.

“I was a bit heavy in the first few ends, so I was trying to get a good handle on that and making sure I was really precise with those placements,” she said.

The duo opened the 48-team event with a 12-4 victory over Romania on Saturday. Canada’s next game is against Belarus on Monday.
