Ellsworth leads Panthers to four-point victory

FREDERICTON, N.B. – Jenna Mae Ellsworth had 28 points to lead the UPEI Panthers to a 76-63 victory over the UNB Varsity Reds Saturday in Atlantic University Sport women’s basketball action.

The game was worth four points in the standings as the conference uses an unbalanced schedule. UPEI finished the 2018 portion of the schedule 6-1 while UNB is 4-3.

Karla Yepez had 12 points and five assists while Jane McLaughlin had 11 points in the victory.
Carolina Del Santo had 10 rebounds while Reese Baxendale had nine point, five rebounds and two assists. Both came off the bench.

UPEI was 12-for-14 (85.7 per cent) at the free-throw line.

Mikaela Dodig had 19 points to lead the Reds.

The Red led 21-18 after the first quarter but trailed 36-29 at the half and 62-40 going to the third.
