ALBERTON, P.E.I. — The medium division proved to be the heavyweight pullers of the Prince County Exhibition’s recent horse pull competition.

Brent Poirier’s team which had a combined weight of 3,290 pounds, managed to pull the 8,000-pond drag for eight feet, six inches, edging out the Lee Knox team by three feet, one inch.

They were the only medium weight teams in the eight-team competition and the only teams to attempt the 8,000-pound drag.

Gary Matheson’s team, which had a combined weight of 2,810 pounds, was the only light team to move the 6,000 -pound drag the full distance. Taking second and third in the light class were the teams of Aubin Doucette and Ricky Perry.

Billy Joe LeClair’s team was successful at the 7,000-pound weight in the heavy division while Lloyd Arsenault took second and Gerald Taylor settled for third.
