CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — The Charlottetown Rugby Football Club (CRFC) and Hunter’s Ale House Mudmen won all four of their games on Saturday during Nova Scotia rugby league play at Co-op Field in Charlottetown.
CRFC's division 1 squad defeated Halifax Rugby Football Club (HRFC) 62-27 to improve to 4-2.
Anneke Dykerman had three tries while Maggie Grimmer had a pair. Alysha Corrigan, Tessa Hood, Lauren Sheidow, Maddy Shea and Megan Larkin each added one. Corrigan had three converts while Tara Campbell, Frances MacWilliam and Keen each had one.
The squad will travel to Markham, Ont., this week for the Canadian Club Rugby Championships. They open play at the four-team tournament Friday at 6 p.m. Atlantic against Capilano from British Columbia in semifinal play. Ontario’s Saracens plays Rugby de Quebec in the second semifinal Friday night. The losers play for bronze Sunday at 1 p.m. with the gold-medal game going at 3 p.m.
CRFC’s second division squad defeated the Truro Saints 74-5 Saturday to improve to 2-2. Both CRFC teams are defending league champs.
Mudmen
The Mudmen’s defeated HRFC 66-7 in division 1 play and Truro 48-19 in division 2 action. The Mudmen are 2-1 in division 1 and 5-0 in division 2. Both teams are defending Maritime champions.
