CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — There won’t be a lack of muscle power Saturday in Charlottetown when the Maritime Open bikini, figure, physique and bodybuilding championships hit the stage at the Eastlink Centre.

The event features athletes from Eastern Canada and is a national qualifier for the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB) pro qualifier this summer in Toronto.

The top three from Saturday’s event move on to the IFBB qualifier and a earn chance for a card in the IFBB Professional League.

Vince Adams, P.E.I. national Canadian Physique Alliance judge, said inviting amateur competitors from off-Island this year is a good way to see how Island competitors match up.

“This opportunity allows P.E.I. athletes the ability to test their skills against a roster of combined athletes from all of Eastern Canada and will showcase some of the best physiques Atlantic Canada has to offer,” Adams said.

Pre-Judging starts at 10 a.m., doors open at 9:15 a.m. Tickets for that portion are $20 cash only and available at the door.

Finals begin at 6 p.m., doors open at 5 p.m. Tickets for the evening session are $45 plus $1 surcharge available at the Eastlink Centre box office.

The event also includes a heath living and lifestyle expo.
