Capers pull away against Panthers in AUS men's hoops

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – Osman Omar scored 29 points and Jason Callaghan chipped in 20 Saturday to pace the Cape Breton Capers to a 90-70 victory over the UPEI Panthers in Atlantic University Sport men’s basketball action.

Paul Watson added 16 points, seven rebounds and four assists during the four-point game in Charlottetown. Shacier Locke had 12 rebounds for the visitors.

Jamesley Jerome had 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Panthers while Milorad Sedlarevic had 12 pints and Amin Suleman 10.

Cape Breton held 23-17, 43-38 and 68-59 quarter leads. The Panthers were 10-for-21 at the free-throw line.

The Capers improved to 4-4 and are in third place in the conference while UPEI is 3-5 and tied with Acadia (2-6) for sixth place.
