CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. —
Lorne Allaire continued his domination of competitive pool on P.E.I. by winning the provincial 10-ball championship with a 9 to 3 victory over Billy Rhynes recently in Charlottetown.
Allaire won the 8- and 9-ball titles earlier this year and went undefeated in the 10-ball event.
Adam Profitt placed third, while Jamie Harris, a relative newcomer to competitive billiards, placed fourth. Mike Horne and Kevin McGee finished fifth and sixth, respectively.
The top eight players and ties from the three provincial championships are set for the open final Saturday, May 4, which determines P.E.I.’s reps at the Canadian Billiards and Snooker Association (CBSA) open nationals in June in Toronto.
The field includes Allaire, Ryan Grant, Rhynes, Du Yif, Profitt, Rob Arsenault, McGee, Justin Grant, Harris and Ralph Robertson.
A fundraising memorial tournament for the late Dave Kelly goes Saturday, at 1 p.m., at Dooly’s in Charlottetown. Kelly was a top billiards and snooker player, an ambassador for the game, a mentor and an administrator at the provincial and national levels.
Proceeds for Kelly’s family.
