Adams, MacInnis named weekly ’Canes award winners

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Basketball players Lexi MacInnis and Travis Adams are the Holland College Hurricanes athletes of the week.
Adams, a fourth-year forward from Halifax, helped lead the Hurricanes to their seventh straight Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) championship.
Adams had 17 points, 14 rebounds, three assists and two steals in Sunday’s victory over the Mount Allison Mounties. The sport and leisure management program student had 14 points, eight rebounds, a steal and an assist in Saturday’s semifinal victory over UNBSJ.

The Hurricanes will travel to Langley, B.C., for the nationals. Holland College plays the host Langara Falcons in their opening game on Thursday, March 14, at 11:30 p.m. Atlantic.

MacInnis, a second-year guard from Stratford, was named to the first all-conference team Friday at the ACAA banquet.

She averaged 14 points (third in the ACAA), 6.3 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 2.3 assists per game, while averaging 33.7 minutes on the floor.

She is studying in the bioscience program.
