SUMMERSIDE – The Arsenault’s Fish Mart Western Red Wings and Sherwood-Parkdale A&S Scrap Metal Metros of the Island Junior Hockey League won interlocking games with the New Brunswick Junior Hockey League on Saturday night.

The Red Wings picked up a 4-3 road victory over the Moncton Vitos, and the Metros outlasted the visiting Cap-Pele Predators 6-4.

At the Superior Propane Centre, Alex Morrissey’s second goal of the game – a power-play effort at 16:45 of the third period – broke a 3-3 tie.
Chasse Gallant (1-1) and Isaac Knox also scored for the Red Wings, who will take a 12-3-0 (won-lost-overtime losses) into Sunday night’s road game against the second-place Kensington Moase Plumbing and Heating Vipers (9-3-0). Lucas Beaulieu (2), Calvin McRae, Spencer Groom, Chandler Wood and Silas Handrahan added assists.
Johnny Chambers, Greg Stoyles and Samuel Bastille answered for Moncton.
The Red Wings held period leads of 1-0 and 3-2.
Winning goaltender Bronson Banks made 27 saves on 30 shots.

Metros 6 Predators 4
At the Bell Aliant Centre on the UPEI campus in Charlottetown, Barrington Duffy (1-2), Jordan Birt (1-2), Nick Currie (1-1), Tanner Lund (1-1), Calen McInnis and Jacob Stewart found the back of the net for the third-place Metros (8-9-0). Single helpers were credited to Zach Ladner, Dylan MacDonald, Ryan Boswall, Drew Bowman, Taylor Runighan and Grant MacAdam.
Chris Kregan (2), Marc Gallie (1-1) and Connor Hayes replied for the Predators.
The teams were tied 1-1 after the first period, and the Metros took a 5-4 advantage into the second intermission.
Ben Parent blocked 29 of 33 shots in earning the goaltending win.
