Mooseheads take 3-1 series lead to Drummondville, Que.

The Halifax Mooseheads have the Drummondville Voltigeurs on the brink of elimination.

They can punch their ticket to the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League final with a win Friday in Drummondville, Que. Game time is 8:30 p.m. Atlantic. The Rouyn-Noranda Huskies swept the Rimouski Oceanic in the other semifinal.

The Herd, which will host the Memorial Cup May 17-26, scored three power-play goals Wednesday in a 5-2 victory in Halifax to take a 3-1 series lead.

Sophomore Xavier Parent scored the winner 15 minutes into the second period. Joel Bishop and former Charlottetown Islanders assistant captain Keith Getson drew the assists.

Raphael Lavoie, Maxim Trepanier and Antoine Morand had the power-play goals while Samuel Asselin netted an empty-net goal.

Dawson Mercer and Joe Veleno scored power-play goals for the Voltigeurs while Gregor MacLeod, who played for Charlottetown in 2016-17 and 2017-18, had an assist and four shots. Former Isles captain Pierre-Olivier (P.O.) Joseph had two shots, two penalty minutes and three hits in the loss.

Alexis Gravel made 33 saves for the win while Olivier Rodrigue stopped 18 shots in the loss.

The game was scoreless after the first period while Halifax took a 4-1 lead to the third.
