KINKORA, P.E.I. — It is a busy Grade 12 year for Maddy Moffatt.

The 18-year-old daughter of Amanda and Robert Moffatt of Kinkora will wear the blue and gold colours of the Kinkora Blazers in three P.E.I. School Athletic Association (PEISAA) senior sports. She played the power position in volleyball in the fall; she is currently playing the wing in basketball, and she will patrol second base in softball in the spring. It is this commitment that helped earn Maddy the Kinkora Regional High School’s Greco Pizza/Capt. Sub student-athlete of the month award.
A team co-captain, Maddy was named a second-team league all-star while helping the Blazers win the 2018 PEISAA Senior A Girls Volleyball League championship in November.
“Though not vocal, she always leads by example,” said Kinkora volleyball head coach Evan Killorn, who praised Maddy’s composure under pressure. “She is a great passer and defensive player, and a consistent attack and smart receiver.”
Outside of school, Maddy played forward/striker with the Summerside United team that won the P.E.I. Under-18 Female Soccer League (Premier Division) championship last summer. She also plays spring volleyball.
Maddy is active in school life as she is a member of the KRHS concert band and grad committee.
Following graduation from high school, Maddy’s future plans include studying a bachelor of health sciences at either Dalhousie University or the University of New Brunswick.
