ALBERTON, P.E.I. — The Western Regals opened the 2019-20 P.E.I. Midget AAA Hockey League regular season on a strong note over the weekend.

The Alberton-based Regals posted a 4-1 victory versus the Mid-Isle Matrix and an 8-1 decision over the Kings County Kings.

At the Jacques Cartier Arena in Alberton, Rankin Noye (2-1), Carson Wood (2), Sam Hackett (1-1), Colby Baker (1-1), Chandler DesRoches (1-1) and Kennedy Gallant accounted for Western’s scoring.
The Regals led 1-0 after the opening period and extended that margin to 6-0 following 40 minutes.
Nylan Hustler earned the goaltending win.

At the APM Centre in Cornwall, Kalim DesRoches (1-1), DesRoches, Ethan Reilly and Jack Reilly found the back of the net for the Regals, who took a 3-1 lead into the second intermission following a scoreless opening frame.
Carson MacKay netted the lone Mid-Isle goal.
Turner Ellis was the winning goaltender.
