Middaugh earns clutch win vs. McCarville at Road to the Roar

Einarson, Breen, Meilleur also reach three-win mark

SUMMERSIDE – Although there is still a lot of work to be done, the Sherry Middaugh and Kerri Einarson rinks took a big step towards the playoffs on Thursday afternoon.
Both recorded important wins in the noon-hour draw at the 2017 Home Hardware Road to the Roar Pre-Trials curling event at Eastlink Arena, and sit tied atop Pool B with identical 3-1 (won-records). The two rinks will meet on Friday at 8 a.m.
Middaugh scored three with hammer in the 10th end to outlast Krista McCarville (2-2) by a 7-5 count, and Einarson scored a pair of three-enders with last-rock advantage in a 9-4 win over Jacqueline Harrison (2-2).
In other action in Draw 12, Briane Meilleur improved to 3-2 by recording a 10-6 decision over Darcy Robertson (1-4), and Halifax’s Theresa Breen got back in the win column after two straight losses with a 6-4 win versus Shannon Birchard in a battle of 2-2 teams.
Two men’s and two women’s teams will advance from the Road to the Roar to the Tim Hortons Roar of the Rings Olympic qualifying competition in Ottawa next month.
