CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - Nick Trainor, Ben Peters and Zac MacKay each tallied three-point nights and lifted the Mid-Isle Matrix to a 6-4 playoff win over the Pownal Taco Boyz Red Devils in P.E.I. Midget AAA Hockey League action Monday in Pownal.
Mid-Isle leads the best-of-seven league final 2-0. Game 3 was Tuesday in Cornwall. Game 4 is Thursday, at 7:30 p.m., in Pownal.
Trainor netted two goals and added an assist, while Peters and MacKay each chipped in three helpers. Chandler LaPorte, Zach Wilson, Lucas Buch and Duncan Picketts had the other Matrix goals.
Lucas Parsons (1-1), Nick Steele (1-1), Dawson Palmer (1-1) and Alex MacEachern potted the Red Devils markers.
Matt Jelley earned the goaltending win. Trevor Whalen was tagged with the loss.
Pownal was 0-of-4 on the power play, while Mid-Isle went 1-for-3 with the extra man.
