Metros thump Crunch 10-3 in junior C play

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – Michael Jenkins recorded the hat trick in the Sherwood Metros 10-3 victory over the Summerside Cover All Construction Crunch Monday in Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League action.

Matt McAulay had two goals and two assists while Shawn Corney also tallied a pair at Cody Banks Arena. Logan Toole, Jake Lafferty and Drew Bowman also scored in the lopsided win.

Nick Brown had four assists, Will Lavasseur three while Brian Leslie and Ridge Crane each added a pair. Singles went to Toole, Craig McAskill, Marc Cummiskey, Ethan Larocque and Riley Cheverie.

James Birt had all three of the Crunch’s goals with Kolton Stright recording the lone helper.

James Duffy made 31 saves for the win while Devon Newberry allowed eight goals on 43 shots in 47 minutes of action. Izaac Ford stopped five of seven shots in relief.

The Metros (2-0-0) held 3-0 and 7-3 period leads. They went 1-for-6 on the power play while the Crunch (1-1-0) was 1-for-4.
