SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — CJ McCardle was the offensive catalyst for the Kensington Moase Plumbing and Heating Vipers on Saturday night.
McCardle recorded five points – two goals and three assists – in the Vipers’ 5-1 road win over the Kent Koyotes in an interlocking game with the New Brunswick Junior Hockey League in Cocagne, N.B.
The Vipers will take an 18-7-0 (won-lost-overtime losses) record into Sunday ’s game with arch-rival Arsenault’s Fish Mart Western Red Wings (23-3-2) at the Evangeline Recreation Centre in Abram-Village. Puck drop is set for 2:15 p.m.
Logan Vandervelden also had a big game offensively for the Vipers, recording one goal and two assists. Garrett Murray (1-1) and Ryan McKenna also scored while Parker Ronahan also assisted.
Samuel Audet replied for the Koyotes.
The Vipers built period leads of 2-0 and 4-1.
Winning goaltender Cameron Visser turned in a 30-save performance as the Koyotes outshot the Vipers 31-26. Visser made 23 of those saves in the first two periods, when the Koyotes held period advantages of 11-9 and 13-6.
The Vipers will host the Moncton Vitos in an interlocking make-up game at Credit Union Centre on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
