CORNWALL, P.E.I. — Curler Lauren Lenentine made a special presentation to the Cornwall Curing Club and its membership recently.
Lenentine is Cornwall’s only world champion – and a two-time one at that – after winning the world junior women’s titles in 2018 and 2020. She recently presented a photograph that includes her 2020 world junior championship team and trophy.
Club president Bryan Sutherland was on hand to accept the photo, which Lenentine autographed at the club, on behalf of the membership.
“We hope that Lauren’s photos can inspire all of the junior curlers from our club, and from all over the Island, to reach for their dreams,” Sutherland said during the presentation.
Lenentine, who played lead on the championship squad, is returning to Winnipeg, Man., this month to resume curling and to further her education.

The world junior championship-winning squad, which also includes Mackenzie Zacharias, Karlee Burgess and Emily Zacharias, has announced they will be staying together and will move up to women’s competition for the 2020-21 season, even though Lenentine and Zacharias are still eligible for junior.
Sutherland expressed his appreciation to Lenentine and wished her the very best in pursuing her goals.
“We will be following along and cheering for the Cornwall Curling Club’s own world champion,” added Sutherland.
