Women's hockey Panthers shut out first-place Huskies

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Jenna Pellerin had three assists and Camille Scherger stopped all 39 shots she faced as the UPEI Panthers blanked the Atlantic University Sport-leading Saint Mary’s Huskies 4-0 in women’s hockey action.

Delaney Boehm had a goal and an assist while Sophie Vandale on the power play, captain Rachel Colle and Jolena Gillard also scored at MacLauchlan Arena. Katelynn Nice, Lexie Murphy and Faith Steeves each had an assist.

Rebecca Clark stopped 17 shots in the loss.

The Panthers, who held 1-0 and 3-0 period leads, went 1-for-4 on the power play and killed all four of the Huskies chances with the man advantage.

UPEI improved to 11-2-1, one point back of Saint Mary’s (12-2-0). The Panthers head to Fredericton, N.B., this weekend for games with St. Thomas on Friday and UNB on Saturday.
