SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — The Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals announced a player signing on Tuesday night.

The Caps, who were ranked fourth in this week's Canadian Junior Hockey League's top-20 rankings, have signed 19-year-old defenceman Ryan Miley from South Dakota.
The six-foot and 195-pound Miley played junior A for the Surrey Eagles of the British Columbia Hockey League and had a short stint with the Portland Winterhawks in the Western Hockey League.
Miley had five points, including one goal, and 42 penalty minutes in 43 regular-season games with the Eagles during the 2018-19 campaign and went pointless in three regular-season games with the Winterhawks.
An injury has kept Miley out of action this season. He is expected to arrive in Summerside in early February to join the Caps for the stretch drive and playoffs.
The Caps, who are 31-5-1 (won-lost-overtime losses), hold a comfortable 11-point lead atop the overall standings in the Maritime Junior Hockey League.
The Caps are back in action Thursday as they visit the Fredericton Red Wings (21-14-2) and move on to play the Grand Falls Rapids (12-20-4) on Friday night.
