GRAND FALLS, N.B. — The Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals kept rolling along in the Maritime Junior Hockey League on Friday night.
The Capitals trimmed the host Grand Falls Rapids 9-3 for their ninth straight win and 10th victory in the last 11 games to improve their league-best record to 33-5-1 (won-lost-overtime losses).
Josh MacDonald, who scored the winning goal in overtime in Thursday’s 4-3 road win over the Fredericton Red Wings, scored twice to lead the Caps against the Rapids (12-22-4). Nick Reeves (2), Riley MacDougall, Zach Thususka, Theo Citrullo and Isaac Wilson chipped in with assists for the Caps, the fourth-ranked team in this week's Canadian Junior Hockey League rankings.
Brandon Brazelle, Bobby Labelle and Drew Toner replied for the Rapids.
The Caps built period leads of 3-1 and 6-3.
Winning goaltender was Alec MacVicar. The Caps held a slight 36-35 shots-on-goal advantage.
Each team was 1-for-6 on the power play.
The Caps host the Miramichi Timberwolves at Eastlink Arena on Thursday. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
