SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — Despite winning two of three games last week, the Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals fell out of the latest Canadian Junior Hockey League’s top-20 rankings released Monday.
The Caps, who were ranked 20th last week, dropped a 4-3 road decision to the Campbellton Tigers on Oct. 14, defeated the Truro Bearcats 5-3 in Nova Scotia on Friday night and the Tigers 6-2 in Summerside on Saturday.
The Eastlink North Division-leading Caps are tied with the Bridgewater, N.S.-based South Shore Lumberjacks for first overall in the 12-team Maritime Junior Hockey League with identical records of 10-3-0 (won-lost-overtime losses).
The lone Maritime team to be ranked is the Edmundston Blizzard at No. 16. Edmundston (9-2-0) is two points back of the Caps and holds two games-in-hand.
The Blizzard will visit the Caps in an early-season showdown at Eastlink Arena on Saturday at 7 p.m.
Edmundston defeated Grand Falls 4-0 on Sunday in its lone game of last week.
