Vipers score two late goals to hand Red Wings first regulation-time loss of the season

ABRAM-VILLAGE, P.E.I. — The Kensington Moase Plumbing and Heating Vipers scored two goals late in the third period to hand the Arsenault’s Fish Mart Western Red Wings their first regulation-time loss of the 2019-20 Island Junior Hockey League regular season Sunday afternoon.
Morgan Darbyson’s unassisted goal at 15:41 gave the Vipers a 3-2 lead and a power-play goal by Ryan Richards with 38 seconds remaining closed out the scoring in a 4-2 victory at the Evangeline Recreation Centre.
The Vipers improved to 7-5-1 (won-lost-overtime losses) while the league-leading Red Wings fell to 10-1-1.
Nick Trainor and Dylan Wheatley also scored for the Vipers while single helpers went to Keegan Buchanan, Tayler Read, Noah Stewart and Riley Gallant.
Alex Morrissey and Chandler Wood countered for the Red Wings. Isaac Knox and Silas Handrahan added helpers.
The Vipers led 2-1 after the first and second periods.
Jonah Arbing, a call-up from the Kensington Wild major midget team, blocked 34 of 36 shots to earn the goaltending win. Cole Gallant made 26 saves on 30 shots for the Red Wings.
