VIDEO: Undefeated Steele in hunt at IceJam

Three teams sit tied atop the major midget standings at 3-0 at the Chronicle Herald East Coast IceJam in Bedford.

The Halifax McDonalds, Pictou County Weeks and Saint John Vitos each have unblemished records through three games. 

The Steele Subaru Major Midgets are also undefeated in three but had to settle for a tie on Friday.

Nicholas Moore had two goals and an assist as the East Coast Blizzard played Steele (2-0-1) to a 4-4 draw. Nathan Carter and Nolan Cleary also scored for the Blizzard and Ethan Wheeler, Keegan MacVicar, Ben Mercer and Kian Bell had the Steele goals.

McDonalds 4, Growlers 0: Sebastian Lever had the shutout for Halifax and Joey Henneberry, Brandon Abbass, Leighton Carruthers and Morgan Lake took care of the offence.

Weeks 4, Moose 2: Matthew Hunter netted the eventual game winner late in the second period and added an assist as Pictou County doubled the Northern Moose.

Vitos 4, Selects 0: Frederic Plourde posted the shutout as Saint John shut out the Nova Scotia Selects.

Mustangs 4, Wild 3: Aaron Lane and Will Chisholm scored third-period goals as South Shore came back to defeat Kensington.

Knights 5, Islanders 0: Cam MacLean potted a pair of goals in Charlottetown's victory over Cape Breton West.

Rush 8, Impact 2: Riley Seymour and Trey Sturge each netted a hat trick for Sydney and Jake Edwards and Preston Pattengale scored one apiece. Ryan Hoskins notched both Central goals.

Selects 4, Kings 2: TJ Morris tallied twice as the Nova Scotia Selects upended Western Kings.

Wolfpack 2, Flyers 1: Carter Murchison and Blake Chasse helped lead Cole Harbour slip past Moncton.

Osprey 3, King's-Edgehill 2: Tri Pen held on after Mark Davis, Joshua Kennedy and Cameron Byrne created a 3-0 lead. Patrick McInnis and Daniel Hornik answered for KES.

Growlers 6, Mustangs 5: Tanner Humber-Drudge scored four times in the Pinnacle victory over South Shore.

Caps 4, Wildcats 2: Noah Gibbs' second goal of the game broke a 2-2 tie in the third period.

Matthew McHatten and Zachary Graham rounded out the Fredericton scoring and Dylan Schofield and Justin Banks replied for Valley.

BANTAM

The Gulls, Moncton Hawks and Kings Mutual Major Valley Wildcats improved their records to 3-0 in the major bantam event.

Jacob Gerhardt sniped a hat trick and Will Shields scored twice in Valley's 5-4 decision over the Northwest Bulls.

Colby Morin was the top scorer for the Bulls with two, and Maxime Madore and Bradly Nadeau had one each.

Gulls 5, Hitmen 4 (OT): Quinn Kennedy's second goal and fourth point decided the game in overtime. 

Carter Graves, A.J. Metlej and Reece Peitzsche also found the net in the win and David Fisher, Luca Rotondi, Rhys Sexton and Connor Ryan responded for St. John's.

Hawks 3, Kings 2: Nick Branton, Liam Welsh and William Hartnell each scored in the first period to pace ACCELL past Kennebecasis Valley.

Blackhawks 4, Storm 3: Olivier Arsenault, Gavin McLenaghan, Jonathan Baldwin and Kaden McNeil were the snipers for Northern and Owen MacDermind, with two, and Jake Clements countered for Cole Harbour.

Express 3, Bearcats 2 (OT): Dawson Sharkey scored in the third period to force overtime and Harry Clements won it in the extra period with his second of the day. Kieran Sears and Aidan McBurnie had the Truro goals.

Rangers 10, IcePak 1: Mitch Wagner (three goals, one assist) and Devon Francis (one goal, three assists) had four points apiece.

Sam LeDrew added a pair and Jake Todd, Gavin Ives, Connor Lloyd and Eric Sweetapple had singles. Alex Kelloway was the lone Central scorer.

Blues 8, Ice 1: Gus El-Tahhan scored twice for Fredericton and Riley Shepard, Brady Wood, Luc Ruff, Anton Topilnyckyj, Jack Allaby and Jaxon Pierce had the others. Jacob Kennedy was the Tri Pen marksman.

Sharks 1, Barons 1: Port City's Reid Calder and Bedford's Will Normandeau traded goals in the tie.

Flyers 4, Lumberjacks 2: Preston Lounsbury had a goal and an assist as Dieppe doubled South Shore.

Warriors 5, Cougars 2: Travis Wedge, Lincoln Waugh and Ethan Dickson each netted a goal and an assist in Prince County's victory over Joneljim.

Thunder 2, Bombers 2: Logan Crosby's power-play goal in the third period lifted the Wear Well Bombers into a draw with TriCom.

Friday is the final day of preliminary play in both the midget and bantam tournaments.
