SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — Two Prince Edward Islanders had their Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL) rights traded before Friday’s trade and roster deadline.

The Miramichi Timberwolves dealt defenceman Jack DesRoches of Days Corner to the Amherst Ramblers for future considerations.
The 20-year-old DesRoches, who recently signed with the Western Red Wings of the Island Junior Hockey League, had four assists in 18 regular-season games with the Timberwolves. He also recently won a silver medal with Team Canada’s hockey team at the 2019 Winter Deaflympics.
The Timberwolves also picked up the rights to Mermaid native and forward Matt Gordon from the Truro Bearcats in exchange for forward James Walker and future considerations.
Gordon played the first half of the year with the Bearcats and was recently called up by the Cape Breton Eagles for the remainder of the 2019-20 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League season. Gordon, 18, had eight goals and 13 assists for 21 points in 29 regular-season games with the Bearcats.
