SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — Dominik Tmej made 31 saves for the shutout Thursday as the Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals blanked the Campbellton Tigers 3-0 in Maritime Junior Hockey League action.
Captain Brodie MacArthur’s power-play goal 3:31 into the first period was the winner. The Summerside native is seven points away from becoming the league’s all-time points leader.
Nick Reeves and Josh MacDonald also scored before 954 people at Credit Union Place. Carson MacKinnon, Kallum Muirhead, Ryan Miley, Marc-Andre LeCouffe, Marc Richard and Colby MacArthur each had an assist.
Tristan Gray stopped 29 shots in the loss.
The Caps led 2-0 after the first period behind two power-play goals and maintained the lead heading to the third. Summerside was 2-for-5 with the man advantage and killed all three of Campbellton’s power plays.
It was the Caps (36-6-0-2) third straight win and improved their record to 8-1-0-1 in their past 10 games. The Tigers are 23-14-3-2.
The teams play again Friday, this time in Campbellton, N.B., at 7 p.m. The Capitals host the Truro Bearcats (19-15-3-4) Sunday at 7 p.m.
