Senior Aces romp to lopsided road win over Regals

ALBERTON, P.E.I. — The Tignish Aces started quick and never looked back en route to a 10-2 road win over the Alberton Regals in the West Prince Senior Hockey League on Wednesday night.

Calvin McRae, Evan Shea and Willie Gaudet all scored two goals for the Aces, who evened their regular-season record at 2-2 (won-lost) before 500 fans at the Jacques Cartier Arena. Single tallies came off the sticks of Mike O’Halloran, Ryan McNeill, Lucas Gaudet and Cole Hackett.
Jake Getson and Morgan DesRoches replied for the Regals (1-3).
The Aces, who jumped out to a 2-0 lead before the game was six minutes old, built period leads of 6-1 and 9-1.
Jake Hackett earned the goaltending win.
The Aces were called for six minors, two fighting majors and two game misconducts. The Regals were whistled for eight minors, one 10-minute misconduct, two fighting majors and two game misconducts.
League action resumes on Saturday as the Wellington Arsenault’s Bros. Flyers visit the O’Leary Maroons in a first-place showdown at the O’Leary Community Sports Centre. Both teams are 2-1 and the winning team will hold sole possession of top spot in the four-team league.
