CALGARY, Alta. — Saskatchewan scored three in the ninth end to defeat P.E.I. 10-5 Wednesday night at the Tim Hortons Brier in Calgary.
The Matt Dunstone-skipped rink improved to 5-2 while the Eddie MacKenzie rink slipped to 1-6. The P.E.I. champs, which includes third Tyler Smith, second Sean Ledgerwood, lead Ryan Lowery and alternate Aaron Bartling from Alberta, complete pool play today with a 4:30 p.m. contest with John Epping’s Ontario rink.
Saskatchewan scored three in the second end but P.E.I. tied it with a deuce in the third. Saskatchewan regained the lead with a deuce in the fourth and the teams traded singles the next two ends. Dunstone stole one in the seventh and P.E.I. got it back in the eighth before giving up three in the ninth.
Bartling played second in place of Ledgerwood against Saskatchewan.
