KENSINGTON, P.E.I. — Maddy Rogers has been selected the Greco Pizza/Capt. Sub student-athlete of the month for her contributions on the volleyball court.

The 18-year-old daughter of Mark and Angela Rogers of Indian River played the middle position and served as captain of the 2019 Kensington Torchettes of the P.E.I. School Athletic Association (PEISAA) Senior AAA Girls Volleyball League. She was also named a first-team league all-star the last two seasons.
“Maddy is a tremendous all-around player,” said veteran KISH volleyball coach Richard Younker. “As a player that has been a starter on the team for the last three years, Maddy was a great leader for her teammates.”
Outside of school, Maddy is playing volleyball with the Holland College club team this year and has previously played with the Red Rock Volleyball Club and the provincial program.
Maddy is also very active in school life, serving as grad class president along with being a member of the prom committee. She also served as co-emcee for the official opening ceremonies of the 52nd Kensington, P.E.I.-Bedford, Que., Peewee Hockey Friendship Exchange on Saturday evening.
Maddy is hoping to go on to study dental assisting at Holland College and continue her volleyball career with the Hurricanes next year.
