ABRAM-VILLAGE, P.E.I. — The Arsenault’s Fish Mart Western Red Wings generated lots of shots on goal Sunday afternoon.
The Red Wings, who scored three unanswered third-period goals, directed 62 shots at Eastern Maniacs goaltender Nicholas Jamieson en route to a 5-2 victory in the Island Junior Hockey League.
The win improved the first-place Red Wings’ record to 27-3-2 (won-lost-overtime losses). Fourth-place Eastern, which will face the Red Wings in the opening round of the playoffs, fell to 7-23-2.
At the Evangeline Recreation Centre, Chandler Wood (1-1), Isaac Callaghan, Connor Morrissey, Jack DesRoches and Silas Handrahan scored for the Red Wings. Brydon Smith and Isaac Knox assisted.
Tyson McInnis and Hunter McIntyre answered for the Montague-based Maniacs, who received an assist from Connor McIntyre.
The Red Wings led 2-1 after the opening period and the teams were tied 2-2 following 40 minutes.
Winning goaltender Cole Gallant faced 24 shots in the Red Wings’ goal.
