SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — Gerard “Turk” Gallant is going to the NHL All-Star game – again.

The Summerside native and head coach of the Vegas Golden Knights was announced Friday as one of four head coaches selected to lead a team into the popular annual All-Star weekend event.

Gallant will lead the Pacific division team, while Bruce Cassidy of the Boston Bruins will do so for the Atlantic team; Craig Berube of the St. Louis Blues for the Central team; and Todd Reirden of the Washington Capitals for the Metropolitan team.

This year’s event will be held Jan. 24 and 25 in St. Louis, Mo. It consists of a three-game tournament played between the four teams representing the four NHL divisions. Games feature three-on-three play.

The coaches for each team are selected based on the teams with the highest points percentage (points earned divided by total possible points) in each of the four divisions in regular-season games up to Thursday, Jan. 2.

Gallant’s Golden Knights currently sit at a record of 23-15-6 , with a winning percentage of .591.

This will be Gallant's third outing as an NHL All-Star head coach. He previously earned that roll in 2018 during the Vegas Golden Knight’s historic inaugural year and in 2016 with his previous team the Florida Panthers.
