MOOSE JAW, Sask. — Team P.E.I. dropped its opening game of the Scotties Tournament of Hearts Saturday in Moose Jaw, Sask.
The Suzanne Birt rink from the Montague Curling Club lost 7-5 to British Columbia’s Corryn Brown.
British Columbia, which never trailed, scored a deuce in the first end but P.E.I. tied it 3-3 in the fourth. After a blanked fifth end, B.C. had a single in the sixth to take a 4-3 lead. The teams traded singles the next two ends before Brown stole two in the ninth to take a 7-4 lead.
P.E.I., which includes vice-skip Marie Christianson, second Meaghan Hughes and lead Michelle McQuaid, play Nova Scotia Sunday at 3:30 p.m. Mary-Anne Arsenault skips the Nova Scotia rink, which defeated the Northwest Territories 8-6 on Saturday.
P.E.I. completes the day by playing Rachel Homan’s Ontario squad at 8:30 p.m. Ontario defeated the Jennifer Jones-skipped wild card entry 9-6 on Saturday.
