P.E.I. finishes Scotties 5-6

MOOSE JAW, Sask. — P.E.I. was eliminated from playoff contention Friday at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Moose Jaw, Sask.

The Suzanne Birt-skipped rink from the Montague Curling Club lost 6-5 to Northern Ontario (Krista McCarville) and 5-3 to Canada (Chelsea Carey) in championship round play. They completed the week in a three-way tie with Canada and British Columbia (Corryn Brown) for sixth with a 5-6 record.

The P.E.I. squad included vice-skip Marie Christianson, second Meaghan Hughes, lead Michelle McQuaid and coach Mitch O’Shea.

Manitoba, skipped by Kerri Einarson, will play the Jennifer Jones-skipped wild card entry Saturday at 8 p.m. Atlantic with a berth in Sunday’s 8 p.m. final on the line. The loser will play the winner of the Ontario-Northern Ontario match (Saturday at 3 p.m.) in Sunday afternoon’s semifinal. Rachel Homan is the Ontario skip.
