Spartans, Privateers to close out a big weekend of championship games

SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — A big weekend of championship football in Summerside will come to a close on Sunday.

The Summerside Cox and Palmer Spartans will meet the Charlottetown Privateers at Eric Johnston Field in the championship game of the P.E.I. Atom Tackle Football League at 11 a.m. Fans are asked to note that this game is on Sunday and not Saturday as previously reported.
This game will follow Potato Bowl and Ed Hilton Bowl varsity and bantam title games on Saturday.
The atom final features the top two teams in the regular season. Summerside finished first with a 3-0-1 (won-lost-tied record) while the Privateers were second at 1-2-1.
The two teams played two close regular-season games as the Spartans won 24-18 and the other ended in a 36-36 tie.
