KENSINGTON, P.E.I. — The game was a lot more entertaining and closer than the final score would indicate.
The New Brunswick/P.E.I. Major Midget Hockey League-leading Moncton Flyers scored five goals in the final 9:11 of the third period, including four in the final 3:42, to turn a 3-2 lead into an 8-2 victory over the host Kensington Monaghan Farms on Saturday night at Credit Union Centre.
The Flyers held period leads of 2-0 and 3-1 in a contest that featured good stretches of end-to-end action with strong intensity and physical play.
The Wild cut the deficit to 3-2 5:51 into the third period, but Jonathon Desrosiers (1-1) restored Moncton’s two-goal advantage with just over nine minutes to go. A short-handed goal by Brock Forsythe at 16:18 started the late offensive outburst by the Flyers.
Matt Lint (1-2), Tristan Sanchez, Cedric Bastarache, Jeff McCullum, Sam Savoie and Alex Petrie also scored for the Flyers, who improved to 21-2-1 (won-lost-overtime losses).
Dixon MacLeod and Donovan Arsenault were credited with the goals for the Wild (13-7-2).

Special teams
Special teams played a factor in the game as the Flyers were 3-for-4 on the power play and scored on a penalty shot while the Wild went 0-for-3 with the man advantage.
The Flyers also dominated in the shots-on-goal department, outshooting the Wild 42-16, including period advantages of 13-5, 17-5 and 12-6. Mathias Savoie was the winning goaltender and Josh Smith tended goal for Kensington.
Referees Travis Timmons and Jarod MacAdam called three minors, one double minor for head contact and one 10-minute misconduct against the Flyers. The Wild received two minors, two double minors for head contact and one 10-minute misconduct.

Schedule
The Wild is back in action on Sunday afternoon visiting the Fredericton Caps (13-11-0) and concludes a stretch of four games in six days at MacLauchlan Arena against the Charlottetown Bulk Carriers Knights on Tuesday. The New Year’s Eve contest will start at noon and will be a rematch of the Wild’s 4-3 overtime win in Kensington on Boxing Day.
The Knights are also in action on Sunday against the Northern Moose (10-11-2) in Bathurst, N.B.
