Stratford native called up by Vancouver Canucks

STRATFORD, P.E.I. — Stratford's Zack MacEwen has been called up to the Vancouver Canucks.

General manager Jim Benning made the announcement on Wednesday. Also heading up to the NHL club from the AHL’s Utica Comets is Tyler Graovac.

MacEwen, 23, has three goals, five assists and 17 penalty minutes in 13 games this season with Utica. He had an assist and five penalty minutes in four games with the Canucks last season as well as 22 goals and 30 assists in 69 games with Utica.

The Canucks host Dallas Thursday at 11 p.m. Atlantic.

MacEwen played two seasons with the Amherst Ramblers of the Maritime Junior Hockey League and in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League for a season with the Moncton Wildcats and Gatineau Olympiques.
