SOURIS, P.E.I. — The Kings County Kings knocked off the P.E.I. Under-18 AAA Hockey League’s top team on Saturday.

The 3-2 win over the Sherwood Drug Mart Central Attack came a day after losing 7-2 to the Western Regals. Here’s a recap of the league’s weekend games.

Kings 3 Attack 2

Denver MacDonald scored the winner for the Kings four minutes into the second period Saturday at the Eastern Kings Sportsplex in Souris.

Captain Alexander Dixon and Gabe Hartlen also scored in the win. Owen Gormley, Alec Higginbotham, Taylor Maguire, Craig Steadman and Ryan Steadman each had an assist.

Noah Dow and Nik Reeves replied for Central with assists going to Josh Lund and Jack Roberts.

Landon Patton earned the win while Keegan Duffy took the loss.

Central led 2-1 after the first period but took a 3-2 lead to the third.

The last-place Kings improved to 5-16-4 while the Attack dropped to 13-8-5.

Regals 8 Matrix 4

Kolby Baker had two goals and an assist to lead the Regals to an 8-4 win over the Robin’s Mid-Isle Matrix Saturday at the Jacques Cartier Memorial Arena in Alberton.

Sam Hackett had two goals while Rankin Noye and Carson Wood each had a goal and an assist with Jack Reilly and Dawson Wallace rounding out the scoring. Marshall Gallant, Carson MacArthur, Cody McCormick and Michael McRae each had two helpers while singles went to Liam Greenan, Colby MacDonald and Colby Perry.

Gage Taylor had a goal and an assist to pace the Matrix while Landon Hardy, Will Mix and Spencer Toole also scored. Reese Wyand had two assists while singles were credited to Nolan Cobb, Ryder Howatt and Jacob MacEwen.

Nylan Hustler earned the win while Noah Visser took the loss.

The Regals, who held 2-1 and 5-3 period leads, went 4-for-5 on the power play while the Matrix went 2-for-5. Western improved to 12-9-5 while Mid-Isle is 11-11-4.

Matrix 3 Red Devils 2

Wyand scored the winner with 57 seconds remaining in the third period Friday as the Matrix defeated the Pownal Taco Boyz Red Devils 3-2.

Graysen LaPorte scored Mid-Isle’s first two goals on the power play at the APM Centre in Cornwall. Jacob Doucette and Matthew Mills each had two assists while LaPorte and Howatt each chipped in one.

Carson Lund and John-Thomas Wood scored for Pownal with Sam Worth drawing the lone assist.

Ty Arsenault earned the win while Ethan Smith took the loss for Pownal (13-10-4).

Regals 7 Kings 2

Hackett had the hat trick to lead the Regals Friday in Souris.

Colby MacDonald chipped in a goal and an assist while Garrett Culleton had the game-winning goal. Dawson Wallace and Carson Wood rounded out the scoring. Harper Richard, MacArthur, Noye and Reilly each earned an assist.

Hartlen had a goal and an assist while Gormley also scored for the Kings. Dixon, Higginbotham and Craig Steadman each picked up an assist.

Turner Ellis picked up the win while Drew Chapman took the loss.

Western held 3-2 and 7-2 period leads. Kings County went 1-for-10 on the power play and killed all seven of Western’s chances with the man advantage.
