MacArthur recognized for strong January

SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — Brodie MacArthur is the Canadian Junior Hockey League player of the month for January.

The Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals captain had seven goals and 21 assists for 28 points in 10 games for the Maritime Junior Hockey League-leading squad.

The month included a seven-point effort against the second-place Edmundston Blizzard. The 20-year-old Summerside native leads the Maritime circuit with 103 points in 48 games and is tied for the league’s all-time points lead (352) with Duane Saulnier.

MacArthur can break the record Thursday when the Caps (39-6-1-2) host the Grand Falls Rapids (15-28-3-3) at 7 p.m.

Rounding out the Gongshow Gear three stars of January were goaltenders Brady Parker of the Okotoks Oilers in Alberta and Matt Lenz of the Steinbach Pistons in Manitoba.
