FREDERICTON, N.B. — Summerside native and team captain Lydia Schurman registered four points as the St. Francis Xavier X-Women swept a pair of Atlantic University Sport women’s hockey games in Fredericton, N.B.
Schurman had a goal and an assist in the X-Women’s 3-0 win over the St. Thomas Tommies and scored again and picked up a helper in a 4-2 victory over the UNB Reds last weekend.
Those were big wins as the X-Women and Saint Mary’s Huskies sport identical records of 20-5-1 (won-lost-overtime losses) atop the conference standings. The UPEI Panthers (19-6-1) are just two points back and each team has two regular-season games remaining this week.
Schurman, who recently became the X-Women’s all-time leader in games played, has four goals and five assists for nine points in 26-regular-season games in her fifth campaign.
