Kensington Wild loses opening game at CCM Challenge in Quebec

SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — It was a tough start to the 2019 CCM Challenge hockey tournament in Chicoutimi, Que., on Wednesday.
The Trois-Riviéres Estacades shut out the Wild 6-0 in the opening game for both teams competing in the Major Midget Division.
Trois-Riviéres built period leads of 2-0 and 4-0 while outshooting the Wild 50-22 overall. That includes period advantages of 19-7, 18-8 and 15-7.
Vincent Fillion earned the shutout while Josh Smith turned in a 44-save effort for the Wild, members of the New Brunswick/P.E.I. Major Midget Hockey League.
Thomas Richette (2), Tristan Luneau (2), Isaac Lambert and Lucas Boisvert scored for Trois-Riviéres.
Third-year forward and assistant captain Landon Clow was named the Wild’s player of the game.
The Wild will play Laval-Montreal on Thursday afternoon and conclude round-robin play against Lac-St-Louis on Friday.
