With an open-length romp in her rear-view mirror, Innocent Kiss will now take on tonight’s featured pace at Red Shores Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Red Shores officials will be monitoring a weather system approaching the Island and will make a call on the official program before 1 p.m.
The 11-dash card has a 6:30 p.m. first race post time with Innocent Kiss the favourite in Race 10 for a $2,200 purse. Adam Merner will drive the daughter of Westwardho Hanover that he co-owns with Max Sehl of Port Morien, N.S. The Chris Davies-trained mare scored a convincing eight-length victory last week at the capital oval after being camera shy since her last victory in June.
Charlottes Western has rail control in the field of pacing mares with four straight top-three finishes lately for trainer-driver Marc Campbell. Bettim Vicky was parked out every step of her latest outing and hung on for second and will leave from Post 2 with Jeff Lilley in the bike.
Race analyst Les MacIsaac will side with Post 3 starter Innocent Kiss to earn the top prize.
“Innocent Kiss steps up after last week’s confidence-building win but she's been here most of the year and, as her summary will attest to, with a fair amount of success,” MacIsaac said. “She is quite possibly the one to beat.”
The field also includes Drivingthedragon N (Jason Hughes), Dancers Pass (David Dowling) and Collective Wisdom (Gilles Barrieau).
The top trot class lines up in Race 7 for a $2,200 purse as Summit City Nate will look to remain undefeated on the East Coast. Owned by Eric Johnston of Summerside, the seven-year-old son of Justice Hall was a five-length winner in his latest for trainer Earl Watts and will have the services of Dowling in the bike tonight. Other top trotting entries include Star Photo (Hughes) from Post 6 and Post 7 starter Majian Tango (Jim Ripley).
