CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Two rookies with the Holland Hurricanes’ soccer teams have been named the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) athletes of the week.
Hayden Porter of West Devon took the male award while Emily Lepine was named the female athlete of the week after both played key roles in their teams winning the conference titles in Cornwall on Sunday.

Porter was the Hurricanes’ go-to keeper for the championship weekend. He played the full 90 minutes in both the semifinal and championship matches.
Porter faced five shots over the two games, allowing only a single goal in the semifinal match and shutting out the UNBSJ Seawolves 1-0 in the final.
Lepine, who is from Bridgewater, N.S., led the Hurricanes in goals over the weekend. She scored four times – twice in each game.
Lepine was a consistent threat to score over the weekend and recorded nine shots on goal, including seven in the semifinal match against UNBSJ.
Both Holland College soccer teams will represent the ACAA at their respective Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) championships from Nov. 6 to 9.
